Introduction
The material on these pages is a selection of my work over the years. I will add to it from time to time, either by writing new pieces or by reviving older ones.
Except for the essays on war, which were part of a body of work that I created while working in the peace movement, the material here forms no particular pattern. I have chosen to post my work in this form rather than a weblog because a weblog is by its nature ephemeral, while the work collected here was designed to be readable long after it was written. Whether I succeeded in meeting this standard is not for me to judge, but the effort to do so makes these materials quite different from what I might post to a weblog.
